Sergi Gómez will be a FC Barcelona player through 2015. The Club and Gómez have agreed to extend the player’s contract through June 30 of 2015, his buyout clause is set at 12 million euros. This afternoon the player, who was accompanied by his representative, signed his new contract at the Club’s offices. The signing ceremony was attended by Club vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the director of Barça B Jordi Mestre, and the director of footbal Andoni Zubizarreta.

Objective: play for the first team

After he signed his new contract, the player talked to Barça TV: “like any kid who starts to play for the team at a young age, it’s an honour to be able to renew my contract with the best team in the world.” He then went on to outline his goals for the future: “I was to be here for many years. I have to look forward and work hard so that one day I can play for the first team. My goal is to be part of the team that celebrated the league title on Monday. The world’s best players play for this club and we can learn a lot from them.”

18 matches this season

Sergi Gómez, 21, has featured for Barça B 18 times this season, and he’s also a regular feature with Spain’s U21 side. This is his second year with the Club.
