Rafinha to play the U20 South American Championship with Brazil

The Barça B player will feature for Brazil in the U20 South American Championship in January

Brazil have selected Barça B’s Rafa Alcántara ahead of the U20 South American Championship which is scheduled to start on January 9 and will end on February 3. Rafinha will join the national team on January 1. He’ll miss up to five Barça B matches.

Brazil’s U20 national team are set to meet on December 10 in Granja Comary, Teresópolis, but the Brazilian Football Confederation accepted FC Barcelona’s request to allow Rafinha to stay in Barcelona until the end of the calendar year.

Brazil, in Group B

Brazil will face off against Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru and Venezuela in Group B. Their first match will be against Ecuador on January 10 in San Juan.

Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia and Chile are in Group A. The top four teams of the tournament will go onto the U20 World Cup in Turkey, which is scheduled to start in June of next year.
