A keeper, two defenders, two midfielders, one attacking midfielder and one striker will reinforce Eusebio Sacristán’s team next season. The new additions to Barça B are all from Barça’s Juvenil A (U18) team. Bañuz, Ayala, Grimaldo, Patric, Miguel Ángel, Quintillà and Dongou are the seven selected players to join Barça B.

Miguel Bañuz: Born in Elche. He’ll turn 19 on June 26. This past season was his first with Barça after he arrived from Elche in the summer of 2011. Bañuz was the starting keeper for the Juvenil A team.

Sergio Ayala: Born in Sant Feliu de Llobregat 19 years ago, he started his Barça career with the Barça Benjamin (U10) team. Since then, he’s spent time in all of Barça’s youth system teams. He’s a left-footed central defender.

Alejandro Grimaldo: Left back and very fast, he’s adept both on offence and defence. This was his fourth season with FC Barcelona after playing in Valencia’s youth system. The Valencia-born player is the youngest of the seven promoted U18 players, he’ll turn 17 in September. Grimaldo made his debut with Barça B on September 14, 2011, against Cartagena. He played the entire 90 minutes and he contributed Barça’s convincing 4-0 win.

Patricio Gabarrón: The Murcia-born player has been with Barça for four seasons. Patric arrived to Barça from Villarreal’s youth system, he’s 19 years-old and his natural position is in the midfield. Patric has trained with Barça B off and on throughout this past season and he’s familiar with Eusebio’s style of management. However, he has yet to make his debut with the Barça B team.

Miguel Ángel Sainz-Maza: The 2011/12 season was his first with Barça after arriving from Racing Santander. Miguel Àngel, 19-years-old, is a ‘media punta’ (plays behind the strikers) and can adapt his style of play to either side of the pitch, he can also function as a ‘false 9.’ His skill at taking free kicks is also worthy of note.

Jordi Quintillà: The player from Lleida completed his second season with Barça’s U18 squad. The 19-year-old player’s natural position on the pitch is left central midfielder, however, he can play on either side of the pitch.

Jean-Marie Dongou: The Cameroonian player is only 17-years-old. He’s played for Barça B intermittently throughout this past season. Dongou featured in 12 Liga Adelante matches and played a total of 125 minutes and scored 2 goals. Dongou, an out-and-out striker, has been with FC Barcelona's youth system for four years. The Cameroonian has scored a tremendous amount of goals for each of the Barça youth teams he’s played in.

Next year’s notable absences

These seven players will cover the gaps left by the defender Armando, the midfielder Martí Riverola and the keeper Rubén Miño, all of whom will not continue with the team next year. These three players were well liked within the Barça B squad, besides their more than evident talent they are fantastic individuals. Armando was the captain of the team and he helped in the development of his younger teammates. Miño and Riverola are leaving the Club after spending many years in the Barça youth system. Besides these three players, the physio José Ramón Callén will also leave the team. This was Callén’s fourth season with the Barça B.
