Barça B will play their last match of the season this Sunday (19:30, GolT and C+ Liga) away to Xerez at the Chapín Municipal Stadium. That match will bring Eusebio Sacristán’s debut season on the Barça B bench to an end. The Azulgrana manager admitted that “finishing as high up the table as possible motivates us, with a victory, and finish off the season with a good taste in our mouths,” he also said that the victory this past weekend over Las Palmas “was good for us, we want to finish off the season with a victory over Xerez.” The manager believes that a victory will “do justice to the good season we’ve had.”

Positive evaluation

Eusebio believes that his players have “managed to meet the team’s goal for the season. The players have improved and they’ve responded to their aspirations to get to the first team is a fantastic way. The team have been able to overcome difficult moments, they’ve always shown a good level of competitiveness.” Along these lines, one of the things that’s pleased the manager the most is seeing players like Tello and Montoya play for the first team. “It fills me with satisfaction, that’s why I’m here.”

Continue to mold players

Looking ahead to next season, Eusebio explained that “we want to keep on working with the young players, we want to maintain the good communication with the first team. Tito’s idea and the philosophy will be the same as Pep’s.” One of Eusebio’s duties with the Barça B team is to ensure that “the players are well prepared, so that we can respond when there is a necessity in the first team.”

Penultimate session before Xerez

Barça B trained this Friday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in the penultimate session before the last match of the season. Ilie was not present during today’s session due to a muscle strain in his leg. Montoya, Bartra, Tello, Muniesa and Planas, all of whom played with Spain’s U21 team in Estonia, also didn’t train. The players are scheduled to return to training this Saturday.
