Barça’s new centre-back shares his first impressions

In this second part of the exclusive interview with Thomas Vermaelen, the centre-back has expressed his happiness and honour for signing with a club as great as Barça. He also remarks that he feels he can play here because the style of Ajax and Arsenal, where he has played, is very similar. Thomas says he likes build-up play and passing it to the midfield, something that fits perfectly with the way a Barça centre-back usually plays. Of course, he understands that there is going to be competitiveness, but he feels confident because, as he has explained before, he understands Barça’s style.
As for his physical level, the Belgian explains he is an intense player, since teams at the Premier League make much more physical contact and this is an aspect of his game style he has developed during his time in England.
Regarding his adjustment to the club, he says he wants to go step by step and learn the language, the club’s culture and getting to know the players, but he also hopes he will fit in soon enough.
