Joao Rodrigues scored a hat trick and Pau Bargalló added two more goals as Barça Lassa vanquished the Argentinian club Concepción PC before 8,000 fans in the semifinals of the Intercontinental Cup, held at the Estadio Aldo Cantoni in San Juan, Argentina.
Pablo Álvarez and Sergi Panadero chipped in with a goal apiece as Barça now move on to Sunday's final against Porto.
Rodrigues was the undisputed star of the game, opening the scoring in the 17th minute and then bagging back-to-back goals four minutes before—and after— halftime to quell Concepción's bid for a comeback.
Before Rodrigues notched his hat trick, Concepción had almost erased Barça's three-goal lead, pulling to within 3-2 on a Maturano penalty shot in the 35th.
After Rodrigues's opener, Álvarez and Panadero stretched Barça¡s lead to 3-0, before Osvaldo Raed finally got Concepción on the board in the 32nd. Then, after Maturano's penalty, it was Rodrigues to the rescue.
Bargalló then scored back-to-back goals of his own to put the nail in the coffin.
Aitor Egurrola was superb in goal for Barça, especially early on, standing on his head in the blaugrana net as the Catalans built up their early cushion.
Barça now face Porto in the final, on Sunday night at 9.00pm local time.
