FC Barcelona Lassa v HC Liceo: Victory in top of the table clash (3-1)

The blaugranes secure a crucial win in the match between the two top teams in the OK Liga and they are now out in front in first place

FC Barcelona Lassa won 3-1 in one of the toughest games of the seasons so far in a fantastic league encounter. The opposition was HC Liceo arrived at the Palau Blaugrana with the exact same record as Barça coming in to this fixture: seven wins in seven games. The blaugranas took the opportunity to open a gap at the top of the table with a fantastic performance. Goals from Panadero, Matías Pascual and Pablo Álvarez gave their side a win in the OK Liga.

Little to choose between two

The first half started with a lot of tension. Both teams were attacking with intent but there were precious few openings. The visiting team had their first effort on Sergi Fernández’s goal through Sergi Miras for the Galician team. He had two chances and the second one was very close with the shot hitting the bar. The blaugranas responded through Pau Bargalló with a shot which went close.

In the seventh minute, Liceo could have taken the lead through a penalty committed by Sergi Fernández which he himself went on to save. The match turned a lot more physical following the penalty. Edu Castro’s side finally took the lead in the 24th minute in a great collective move which Sergi Panadero finished well. Barroso, just before the break, could have doubled the lead but the ball went fractionally wide of the post.

Brilliant after the break

The match continued without a single moments respite for either side. Barça, despite they were in front on the scoreboard, didn’t sit back as they looked to double their lead. They managed to go 2-0 up through Matías Pascual as the blaugranas counterattacked clinically in the 26th minute. Minutes later, Pablo Álvarez made the most of a defensive mistake from the opposition allowing him to go one-on-one with Xavi Mailán and finish expertly (3-0).

Liceo tried to respond immediately and almost managed to do so but Sergi Fernàndez saved his side. The keeper continued to perform impressively as he saved a penalty from Marc Coy. The opposition got on the scoresheet with a Marc Coy goal into an empty net following some ping pong in the box in the 41st minute. The match continued to be played at a frenetic pace until the end.

FC Barcelona Lassa could have made it 4-1 through a Bargalló penalty but it was also saved. Two other counter attacks went begging but in the end, it was not necessary as the blaugranas secured a crucial win in the top of the table clash. Barça’s unbeaten run continues and they have opened a gap at the top for the first time this season.
