Liceo 3-2 Barça: The cup escapes

Edu Castro's side were defeated in the final thanks to the Galician's success from direct free-kicks

It wasn't to be. Barça lost the Copa del Rey final to Liceo 3-2 in an intense battle from beginning to end.

Thanks to some solid play from the goalkeepers of both teams, goals were not forthcoming in the first half.

Fleeting

Jordi Adroher and César Carballeira quickly gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage in the second half, before Matias Pascual halved the deficit a minute later.

Ignacio Alabart gave the visitors hope as he drew the Blaugranes level, but the joy was fleeting.

Another direct free-kick, Jordi Adroher's second of the game, ended the match as a contest and meant the Galicians took the Copa del Rey title.
