World Skate Europe abandons European League

Barça had a 100 per record and were through to the quarter finals, but it was all in vain

World Skate Europe has announced this Friday April 30 that its competitions are to be abandoned. President Fernando Claro has said that “due to the current pandemic throughout Europe, the conditions are not right to complete the European club schedule.” As part of the same announcement, it was revealed that the European Championship scheduled to be played in France this summer is also being cancelled.

Edu Castro was leading the side to a fabulous campaign in Europe, with Barça winning all five games that were played and earning quarter finals berth. Having scored 33 goals and conceded just ten, they were in line for a meeting with either Noia Freixenet to Monza to win a place in the Final Four.

But none of that is now to be. The European season has fallen victim to Covid-19 and there will be no continental champion this season.
