Barça 8-4 Igualada Rigat: Key rival defeated

Igualada came to the Palau Blaugrana as one of the main threats to Barça’s league position, and it is especially not to give Liceo any chances to widen the gap. But the home side got the job done, taking the chances when they came and winning 8-4.

With a goal in less than a minute, things were always looking good, and the 3-1 lead at the break augured just as well. Both sides played some quite beautiful hockey in the second half, but Barça made good of the head start established earlier on to finish second with 27 points and a game in hand. Next Tuesday they play that missing fixture at 9.00pm CET away to Reus Deportiu, a golden opportunity to close in on the league leaders.
