Héctor Fort makes first team debut

3-2 defeat in Belgium also brings Marc Guiu's first goal in the Champions League

Barça had already qualified and were virtually assured of top spot in Group H, so Xavi Hernández could afford to experiment against Royal Antwerp on Wednesday, to the extent that right back Héctor Fort not only made his senior debut, but did so in the starting line-up, playing for a whole hour before João Cancelo took his place for the remainder of the match.

Héctor Fort: Blaugrana since 2013

Fort was playing for one the Anguera Barça supporters club's U8 team before getting picked up by the FC Barcelona scouts in 2013. He rose all the way up through the ranks and this season has played ten games and scored one goal for Barça Atlètic, and also scored in a game for the Barça U19s. He also has UEFA Youth League experience and was an important component of the Spain team at the recent U17 World Cup in Indonesia.

Marc Guiu: Euro debut and goal

The other standout player in Antwerp was Marc Guiu, the 17-year-old who made such an extraordinary impact on the night of his senior debut against Athletic Club, scoring the only goal of the game just moments after coming on as a late substitute. And tonight he did it again in his first Champions League outing.

It wasn't quite as quick as his league goal, but nevertheless he had only been on the pitch for 18 minutes when he scored a brilliant header that looked to have secured a late draw in Belgium. Sadly, the home side nabbed a late winner, but that takes nothing away from the excellence of Guiu's marvellous finish from an Ilkay Gundogan free-kick.
