Table toppers: Valverde and his players reflect on a job well done

Barça manager, plus Clement Lenglet, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué discuss the 2-1 win in Eindhoven and look ahead to the round of 16

We’re so happy to have mathematically topped the group” said a beaming Ernesto Valverde after his side had done just that by beating PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in Wednesday night’s Champions League clash.

“And considering how much we have struggled away from home in recent years and found it hard to score goals,” he continued, “I’m especially pleased to have got two wins and a draw this year.”

“PSV played well. They were very lively on the counter attack and the balls we lost meant they were able to get into dangerous positions and even hit the woodwork a few times.”

It was a game of two halves, and after the break Barça looked a whole lot more comfortable.

“It was a hard place to play at" concluded Valverde. "But the more the game progressed the more chances we able to create.”

Gerard Piqué

"This year's group was one of the most difficult in recent years but we have been comfortable winners in most of the games"

"We were more in control of the game in the second half and could have scored more goals, but instead we suffered a bit in the last ten minutes"

"We're looking strong for the remaining games in the competition. The best has yet to come and this team knows exactly how to compete in the Champions League"

 Sergio Busquets

"We knew we'd already qualified but wanted to make sure of first place sooner rather than later"

"We lost a couple of balls in dangerous places in the first half. We were a lot better after the break and scored a couple of goals"

We've had a great group stage both home and away. We deserved to win at every ground we played at"

 Clément Lenglet

"We've suffered against all the teams in the Champions League. We're very happy to have qualified"

"It's much easier to play the second leg at home because you have the chance to turn things around"

 "Messi is phenomenal. He's unique"
