Group winners for 12th time in a row

After winning in Holland, Barça are assured top spot in Champions League Group B and will be one of the eight seeds for the round of 16

For an amazing twelfth season in a row, Barça have not only qualified for the last sixteen of the Champions League, but have done so in first place. The 2-1 win at PSV Eindhoven did the trick, with Barça already six points clear of both Inter Milanand Tottenham going into the final round of games.

Topping the group, of course, means being seeded in the draw for the first knockout stage and also enjoying all-important home advantage in the second leg.

Only two other teams are already assured top spot in their groups, Porto and Real Madrid, so Barça cannot meet either of those in the Round of 16 (although as they share a domestic league, they couldn’t play the latter anyway).

The only teams confirmed as possible rivals are Schalke 04 and the team that beat us last season, AS Roma.

Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester City, Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Munich, Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also through to the next stage, but it’s undecided whether that will be in first or second place.
