Josep Maria Bartomeu takes part in an intense day at UEFA

This Wednesday the president of Barça participated in the UEFA meetings for the Club Competitions Committee and the Professional Football Strategy Committee

Josep Maria Bartomeu had an intense agenda this Wednesday in Nyon (Switzerland), home of UEFA, where he has participated in the meetings of the Club Competitions Committee and the Professional Football Strategy Committee, two of the decision-making forums of the highest European football organisation and where FC Barcelona is present.

In the Club Competitions Committee meeting, the latest updates on the progressive introduction of VAR in European competitions as of the 2019/20 season were addressed, among other topics, as well as the project to create a third club competition from the 2021/22 season.

After this meeting, Bartomeu participated in the Professional Football Strategy Committee meeting, a panel composed of clubs, leagues, federations and players. At the meeting, in which the UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin, was present, the recent information that appeared in various media regarding the alleged breach by some clubs of Financial Fair Play and the supposed creation of a Super League was discussed. The development of female football was also on the agenda.

Josep Maria Bartomeu has been a member of the Professional Football Strategy Committee of UEFA since May 2014, a position that also involves participating in the Executive Committee of the ECA.
