València CF – Barça Women: A hard-fought point (0-0)

Fran Sánchez's side couldn't get the win against a solid Valencia team who rode their luck in the last few minutes of the match

Barça Women have drawn against Valencia (0-0) in a game that saw consistent Barça possession and a good performance from the home defence and keeper. Fran Sánchez’s side, despite their best efforts, couldn’t break the hosts down, though might have won it at the death, Lieke Martens’ shot agonisingly hitting the woodwork.

The visitors took the game to Valencia from the first whistle, but an outstanding collective effort from the hosts’ defence ensured that any shots from Barça had to be from range.

A similar pattern continued after the break but Barça wanted to create more goal opportunities than in the first 45. A shot from Hamraoui was followed two minutes later when Andonova tried her luck from a free-kick. The minutes ticked by with the status quo remaining the same, and even when the blaugrana managed to get in behind, they were met with an inspired goalkeeping performance from Vreugdenhil.

Shortly before the 90th minute, Barça enjoyed their best chance of the game. Martens finally managed to beat Vreugdenhil but her shot hit the post and bounced to safety.
