Barça B have secured a crucial point at home to division leaders Villarreal B with a goal scored right at the final gasp. Their fellow reserve side had taken the lead thanks to a first half penalty.
The Catalans had taken the initiative right from the start, but struggled to turn their dominance of the ball into real chances. So it was very much against the run of play that the yellows opened the scoring on the half hour. Samu went down in the area, Quinti converted and from then on the home side started looking a whole lot more dangerous.
There was a new verve to Barça B after the break. Mujica came closest, and the inclusion of fresh legs further helped the cause. Everything was working out, but the goal just didn’t want to come.
We were heading for a frustrating draw when no fewer than seven minutes into injury, Cuenca got on the end of a corner and the equaliser finally materialised. The Miniestadi went wild. Three points would have been much nicer, but to have come out of this game with nothing would have been a cruelty that was by no means deserved.
