Barça, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich off to hottest starts in Europe

The three giants are the only clubs who are a perfect six for six thus far across all competitions

You couldn’t ask for a better start. FC Barcelona, through their first six official games of the 2018/19 season, have yet to draw or lose in any of the three competitions in which they have played. Here are the competitions, dates, opponents, and results thus far:

SPANISH SUPER CUP
Aug. 12 — Sevilla 1, Barça 2

LA LIGA
Aug. 18 — Barça 3, Alavés 0
Aug. 25 — Valladolid 0, Barça 1
Sept. 2 — Barça 8, Huesca 2
Sept. 15 — Real Sociedad 1, Barça 2

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Sept. 18 — Barça 4, PSV Eindhoven 1

Barça’s season-opening win over Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup — played in the Moroccan port city of Tangier this season —  was the club’s 13th such title. That was followed by three La Liga wins, an international break, and another Liga win at historically tough Anoeta on September 15th. The most recent triumph came in the Champions League this week over the Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven.

Barça, thus are the only team in Europe’s big five league — other than Liverpool and Bayern Munich — to enjoy such a start to the season thus far. Juventus, it should be noted, is also perfect, but they are five for five. For the Catalans, it also happens to be the club's best start in 20 seasons.
