Academic support

Combining studies and sport

The practice of sport combined with academic study demands many hours of dedication and effort. For that reason, from the Department of Academic Support to the Overall Support Service for Sportsmen and women, available to sportsmen and women, teachers and educational staff is a large teaching area and other classrooms for support to help the students combine their academic work and sport. The service is not just available on request to the players but also their families, the coach, medical services…

The teachers, via their space for academic support, help sportsmen and women who may have educational needs. In other words, there is a space where the sportsperson can make the most of their time, managing and using it well and establishing study habits to be able to combine their academic responsibilities with sport, their dual career.

In competitions that last at least a week, a support teacher is part of the travelling party to help the sportsmen and women keep up with their classes and continue with the work set for them by their schools.

For example, La Masia has a collaborative agreement with the Spanish Football Federation so that every player from the youth teams who is selected for the national team has an established plan of study so they do not fall behind academically. Furthermore, there are Skype calls with teachers in Barcelona to help the students with any possible problems they may have.
