CD Alcoyano 3-1 FC Barcelona B: Losing start to Division 2B

Cruel defeat as hard-hitting home side take three points despite almost all of the play being in their own half

Barça B have lost 3-1 at Alcoyano in their first game in Group 3 of Division 2B.

Things got off to a bad start when Primi converted a corner for the home side in the very first minute. Riqui Puig and Collado led the Catalan reaction but the equaliser didn’t come until added time at the end of the first half, with a dazzling Pèrez run finished off superbly by Ballou.

Barça B looked a lot sharper after the restart and had several chances to edge ahead while Alcoyano seemed more intent on taking a physical approach, for which they were rewarded with a series of cards.

But on one of the rare opportunities when the home side created any kind of danger, Rubio got on the end of a cross from the right to put his team back in front.

The blaugrana reserves piled on the pressure in the closing minutes and had squandered several chances before another goal against the run of play from Rubio confirmed a far from deserved opening day defeat for Barça B.
