Luis Enrique happy with the team’s effort

The result does not reflect the game says the Asturian, while Jordi Masip and Marlon Santos also chip in with their views

Luis Enrique feels his side deserved a lot more from the Catalunya Super Cup against Espanyol where a a goal in the first half by Felipe Caceido saw Barça narrowly lose the game.

“It was a good match and I saw a good effort from all of my players,” said the boss. “The result did not reflect the game”.

Jérémy Mathieu suffered an injury which forced him to be substituted at the start of the second half, which Luis Enrique called “the negative point” of the game. Several players also gave their thoughts post-game. Here is what they had to say:

Marlon Santos

“I feel ready, I am patient because I am young. Now I must continue working and do my job for my teammates in the reserves.”

“Now it’s time to relax before focusing on the next game.”

Jordi Masip

“The team did a great job, we created chances and we kept the ball. I think the result was a bit unjust.”

“After the goal, we bounced back well and kept possession but the ball simply wouldn’t go in.”

“The reserve players are very capable, with a lot of quality and they are working very hard with Barça B.”

“I am happy and in high spirits. Hard work is needed; there is tough competition in goal. The season is long, we will see what happens. I have patience.”
