FC Barcelona v Granada marks 1,500th competitive fixture at Camp Nou

Almost six decades after Jaén were beaten in its first league match, Saturday (8.45pm CET) brings another historic milestone for the iconic stadium

Saturday's game between Barça and Granada will be the 1,500th competitive first team match at the Camp Nou.

It has been just over 59 years since Barça beat Jaén 6-1 in the first ever league game at their new stadium on 6 October 1957. That was twelve days after the ground had been officially inaugurated with an opening ceremony and an exhibition match against a Warsaw XI.

Since then, the blaugrana have gone on to accumulate 1,118 wins in their 1,499 home fixtures. 238 games have been drawn and in six decades of football, there are have only been 143 home defeats.

Barça have scored 3,872 goals in those games and conceded 1,186. Obviously, the vast majority (2,684) of those goals have been scored in La Liga.
