FC Barcelona looking to crack the Sánchez Pizjuán

Sevilla have won every one of their home games this season in La Liga and the Champions League

FC Barcelona visit the ever-tricky Ramon Sánchez Pizjuán stadium on Sunday, where their hosts Sevilla have won every game this season in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men have won all seven home matches in the aforementioned competitions, and it is their fine form which sees them fourth in the La Liga table and at the top of Group H in continental play. Their home wins this season are as follows:

  • 20 Aug: Sevilla 6 – 4 Espanyol (La Liga)
  • 10 Sep: Sevilla 2 – 1 Las Palmas (La Liga)
  • 20 Sep: Sevilla 1 – 0 Betis (La Liga)
  • 27 Sep: Sevilla 1 – 0 Lyon (Champions League)
  • 01 Oct: Sevilla 2 – 1 Alavés (La Liga)
  • 23 Oct: Sevilla 1 – 0 Atlético Madrid (La Liga)
  • 02 Nov: Sevilla 4 – 0 Dinamo Zagreb (Champions League)

However, Sevilla have lost one game at the Pizjuán this season, and that was at the hands of Barça in the Spanish Super Cup back on 14 August. Luis Enrique’s men have won the last four encounters over Sunday’s opponent:

  • 02 Feb. 2016: Barça 2 – 1 Sevilla (La Liga) Camp Nou
  • 22 May 2016: Barça 2 – 0 Sevilla (Copa del Rey final) Vicente Calderón
  • 14 Aug. 2016: Sevilla 0 – 2 Barça (Spanish Super Cup) Sánchez Pizjuán
  • 17 Aug. 2016: Barça 3 – 0 Sevilla (Spanish Super Cup) Camp Nou
In fact, the last time Sevilla beat Barça was at the Sánchez Pizjuán on 3 October 2015. Sevilla came back to win that day, 2–1, but it wasn't all bad news for Barça as they turned things around in their very next game, sparking the beginning of their record-breaking 39-game unbeaten streak.  More news here
