The commissioner of the project which aims to turn the club into a leader in knowledge explains the contents of the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology to be held in May

Bologna, the city of Alma Mater Studiorum, the oldest university in Europe (1088 AD), has been chosen to present in Italy the scientific programme of the 26th edition of the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology, the world's largest conference on football science and medicine, to be held between 13 and 15 May 2017 at the facilities of FC Barcelona. Dr. Jordi Mones, FCB Universitas commissioner and board director, said on Wednesday that the scientific programme will have as a common thread ‘The future of medicine in football’, along with Stefano Della Villa, president of the Isokinetic medical group, scientific partner of the event.

The programme includes 203 speakers from around the world, which will explore a wide range of topics related to football medicine, from prevention to regenerative medicine, and will also focus on the latest innovations in neuroscience and biomechanics.

The concept of the conference, sponsored by FIFA, is simple: offer the medicinal community of football an inclusive platform to exchange knowledge, listen to the current data from leading experts and celebrate innovative ideas of young talents..  It will be the most important event of the year on football medicine, with more than two thousand participants from 80 different countries, and is open to all those who are part of the world of sports science and the community of football medicine.

For FC Barcelona, this conference is part of the framework of FCB Universitas, Sport Innovation Hub, the project of the FCB Coneixement department that is part of the strategic plan of the Club and aims to become a global leader in the club in the generation and transfer of knowledge in the world of sport.

Dr. Monés also presented the FCBUniversitas, Sports Innovation Hub project, to representatives of the Italian scientific community and explained how FC Barcelona wants to project and share the knowledge it has acquired over the years in various fields, such as medical services and performance, in an external way, with other world-renowned organisations, institutions, academic institutions and technology companies through forums, conferences, educational programmes, and master’s degrees or developing research and courses, both face-to-face and online.

The International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology next May will be a magnificent opportunity to find synergies between the innovative ideas of young specialists and the experience of the most recognised professionals in the field of football science and medicine.

FC Barcelona has the organisational support of medical group Isokinetic, a global leader in the field of sporting injuries, treatment, orthopedic rehabilitation and research, with more than 30 years experience in the treatment of patients in its eight clinics throughout Europe.

Comments from Dr. Jordi Monés, FCB Universitas commissioner:
