FC Barcelona Lassa v Valencia Basket: Home team put on a show! (94-82)

The Catalans, led by a stellar Rice in the second half, managed to secure a second consecutive victory at the Palay putting them just behind the league leaders with 10 victories

Following the Euroleague victory against Olimpia Milano, Barça Lasa played excellently once again in their win over Valencia Basket at the Palau Blaugrana in the Endesa League. The opposition was a tricky one but Barça put on a show thanks to a stunning Rice performance with 25 points scored and four three pointers in a row in the second half. Doellman also excelled with 18 points and together they led the Catalans to an important victory. Moreover, Navarro scored 11 points and became the fourth maximum point scorer in the league's history with 8,043 points. Bartzokas' team overtook the Valencians and are now second in the table with 10 victories.

The game was a demanding yet intriguing affair and they faced a high-flying opponent. Valencia Basket were tricky to play against and there wasn't much between the two in the first half. Diot and Sato scored for the visitors and Barça Lassa spread the scoring around. After six minutes the score was 11-12 but an unanswered ten points gave Barça a 25-20 lead after the first quarter.

Barça take control and don't let go

Thanks to an improvement in defensive rebounds Barça Lassa began to take charge with Dorsey and Tomic leading the charge. Will Thomas' appearance kept Pedro Martínez's side in touch with a score of 31-27 but Barça stretched the lead to ten points by the break(44-30). The home side's good defence in the second quarter, with only ten points conceded, made the difference and allowed the Catalans to start the second half in confident mood. 

The Rice show

Bartzokas' side maintained their advantage in the opening moments of the third quarter but Valencia Basket threatened and came within three points (59-56). At this time, Tyrese Rice appeared with three three pointers in a row and one from Doellman, which gave the blaugranas some breathing room at the Palau. They finished the third quarter with a score of 71-58 and Rice scored another three pointer at the start of the final quarter. The American's excellent performance ended with an impressive 25 points.

Barça Lassa finished of the Valencian team with points from Navarro, who ended on eleven, and Doellman. The Palau witnessed another victory following the European triumph and next Wednesday Barça will look to maintain the winning run against Darussafaka at 9pm CET.
