Luis Suárez signs new contract

The Uruguayan striker puts pen to paper on his contract extension which will keep him at FC Barcelona until 30 June 2021.

On Friday Luis Suárez put pen to paper on his contract extension with FC Barcelona until 30 July 2021. The Club announced on Thursday that the player would be signing a new deal.

The buy-out clause in his contract is €200m.

The signing of the contract took place in the presence of president Josep Maria Bartomeu, director Javier Bordas, CEO Òscar Grau, director of professional sport Albert Soler and technical secretary Robert Fernández.

Luis Suárez came to Barça from Liverpool in the summer of 2014 and since then he has played a total of 116 games in which he has formed a deadly trio with team mates Leo Messi and Neymar. The Uruguyan scored 40 league goals last season to become La Liga’s top scorer for the campaign and to claim his second Golden Shoe award.

With FC Barcelona Luis Suárez has won everything; two league titles, two Copas del Rey, a Champions League, a Spanish Super Cup, a European Super Cup and a FIFA World Club Cup. A list of honours that he will hope to add to in the coming years.
