FC Barcelona players at the World Handball Championship

Thirteen representatives of the Catalan club feature on the provisional squad lists of various nations who will compete for the top international competition

Thirteen FC Barcelona players are on provisional squad lists for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship held in France, starting on 11 January and finishing on the 29th of the same month.

The nation with the heaviest Barça presence is Spain, with five blaugrana stars featuring in the initial squad selected: Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, Viran Morros, Valero Rivera, Víctor Tomás and Raúl Entrerríos.

France have called up Barça trio Sorhaindo, N’Guessan and Dika Mem, with the latter being the youngest in the host nation’s squad.

Lasse Andersson and Jesper Noddesbo have been selected by Denmark, Kamil Sypzak for Poland, Jallouz for Tunisia and Lazarov for Macedonia.

If all 13 make the final squads, it would equal the strongest Barça presence at a handball world championship, which was in Croatia in 2009.
