FC Barcelona invite members and fans to take part in the events to commemorate 25 years since European Cup victory at Wembley

Coinciding with the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the first ever victory in the European Cup, which took place on 20 May 1992 at the old Wembley Stadium in London, the Club is calling on members and fans to send their photos and videos from that historic day to be included in an exhibition named ‘Espai Wembley 25’ at the FC Barcelona Museum.

The exposition will be opened in the coming weeks and will be situated on the first floor of the Museum and it is hoped that those people who were lucky enough to witness the final in person on 20 May 1992 at Wembley share their memories of that fateful day. As such, the Club will be able to cast an eye back on that magical evening from the point of view of the fans. For those who contribute material, there will be the chance to win a Barça shirt signed by members of the squad from the time, known as the ‘Dream Team’, in a special draw.

Members and fans who wish to contribute can do so in two ways: online, via the Club’s official website or in person at the OAB at Camp Nou. There, material can be collected, digitalized and returned to its owners in the space of a few days.

To celebrate this special anniversary the Club has also set up a microsite within the official website to publicize the various events that will take place to commemorate the first ever victory in the European Cup 25 years ago. All the latest news will be available on the celebrations and also visitors to the site will also be able to relive the best moments from the final itself and look back at the legendary squad that helped the Club lift the famous trophy for the first time in its history.

Other events

It is worth noting that the Club is putting on other events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of that European Cup victory. Some of the initiatives which have already been carried out are the design of the shirt for this season which has been inspired by the jersey worn by the team in the 1991/92 season; the members’ card this season and the choice of Sampdoria as opponents for the Trofeu Joan Gamper last summer.

In the coming months there will be a game between the ‘Dream Team’ and another team of great players from the Club’s past and at the beginning of June a series of special programmes on the Club’s official channel Barça TV, amongst other activities planned. 

The objective of this initiative is to get people involved who were actively involved in that great day on a sporting, social and institutional level.
