Gerard Piqué says Luis Enrique deserves a great final send off

‘Alavés are the surprise package of the season,’ adds Barça defender

Barça face their final game of the season in the Vicente Calderón this Saturday at 9.30pm CET. The occasion will be the final of the Copa del Rey and their opponents Alavés will be trying to prevent the blaugranes claiming the trophy for the third consecutive season. Defender Gerard Piqué appeared in a press conference on the eve of the clash to cast his eye towards to what will be Luis Enrique’s final game as coach. “Alavés are the surprise package of the season and they have an historic opportunity to claim a trophy. We have to equal their passion and overcome them tactically and technically,” advised the Barça number three.

“Luis Enrique deserves a great final. He has been a great coach and one of the best in history. It’s great opportunity and we have to be able to do it,” continued Piqué.

“It’s easy to remember the trophies won but it’s better to remember how he is a person because he was able to win over the whole dressing room.”

Barça will be without Sergi Roberto and Luis Suaréz due to suspension for the game in Madrid. “The team has important players missing but we are a big squad and we have enough players to cover their absence,” commented Piqué.

To round off the centre back had words of praise for team mate Samuel Umtiti. “He has great technical quality, he is an all-round talent, he has a good head and he has done well in his first season, an important factor for being a success at the Club,” he concluded.
