Speaker Biography:

Ramón Jesús was hired by FC Barcelona in 2016 to be part of Espai Barça team leading the BIM management and implementation in the different design projects. Prior to working with FC Barcelona Ramón Jesús worked at the British engineering firm ARUP as Digital Environments leader for Europe. Ramón Jesús has been involved in the design and construction of sports facilities for more than 10 years with a special interest in the parametric design and data driven approach for bowl configurations and crowd simulation. Ramón Jesús lectured at different academic institutions such as IE School of Architecture & Design or ETH Zurich, focusing in the digitalization processes in architectural design.

The Challenge of Data Driven Design

Presentation Synopsis:

Espai Barça is a strategic project for FC Barcelona involving the full renovation of the sports facilities of the club. The renovation of the main stadium, Camp Nou, built in 1957 and with around 96.000 spectators capacity, is a major challenge as the construction is going to be done while keeping playing and broadcasting every match. A data driven design and construction strategy is key in order to complete successfully a major project as Espai Barça.
