The Story
FC Barcelona legend Carles Puyol was always renowned for his strength, determination and devotion. During his long career at the Camp Nou, he provided countless unforgettable moments for the fans. One such moment came in Barça's 2-6 win in El Clásico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, on May 2nd, 2009. He converted a cross from Xavi Hernández to put his side 1-2 in front, and celebrated by kissing the captain's armband.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
A little over a year later, on July 7th, 2010, the same protagonists provided almost a carbon copy of the goal. This time, it was for Spain, in the 2010 World Cup semifinal against Germany. Fifteen minutes from time, Xavi sent in a corner and Puyol headed in, scoring the only goal of the game and taking his country through to the final.
