The new FC Barcelona signing, MVP at the European Championships won by her wonderful Holland side, collects the award at the Champions League draw in Monaco

Lieke Martens, one of the new FC Barcelona signings for the 2017/18 season, has been named UEFA Player of the Year.

She won the vote ahead of Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg and Denmark) and Dzsenifer Marozsán (Olympique Lyon and Germany), following her amazing performances at club level last year for Rosengärd, who FCB met in the quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, but most importantly in winning the European Championship on home soil with her native Holland.

She was voted MVP of the tournament as the Dutch ladies won the title for the first time ever, playing 525 minutes, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
