Red Star Belgrade – FC Barcelona Lassa: First defeat of the season (90-82)

Sito Alonso’s team suffered their first reverse of the campaign on the second matchday of the Euroleague

At one of the toughest places to go in the Euroleague, Barça Lassa were undone by a very effective start from Red Star Belgrade and never recovered, eventually falling to their first defeat (90-82) of the 2017/18 season.

Even the efforts of Kevin Seraphin (16 points) and Thomas Heurtel (14 points) were not enough to turn the tide for Sito Alonso’s team, in a game that saw Ante Tomic reached 2000 points in the Euroleague.

Down by 10 (20-10) after seven minutes, Barça Lassa swiftly reduced the deficit, but the reprieve was only temporary as Red Star stretched their lead to 12 points (44-32) by halftime.

The pattern continued until the successes of Hanga, Heurtel and Tomic in the final period saw the visitors take the lead. However, in the final plays of the game, the hosts pushed on again to ensure victory.

This Sunday, Barça Lassa return to Endesa League duty, looking to continue their 100 percent record in the domestic competition.
