Barça’s Uruguayan striker sits down with Barça TV to talk about his and the team’s current form, Leo Messi, Ousmane Dembélé, the coaching staff, and the 2018 World Cup

In a wide-ranging Interview to Barça TV, Luis Suárez, the team’s 30-year-old striker and Uruguay International, touches on several topics ranging from how he sees himself to the team’s current standing to his teammates and coaches, and beyond.

Here are the highlights of what he had to say.

On his current form:

“My mentality is that I want to keep helping the team. I can’t let my guard down.” “I’m the first one to look myself in the mirror and I’ll be the first one to admit that I can score more goals, but sometimes the ball just doesn’t want to go in.”

On the team’s current form:

“Every match is tough in its own way. This year we are figuring out how to turn around matches in which our opponents go ahead on the scoreboard.“

“Winning streaks strengthen the group and add self-confidence.”

On Leo Messi:

“It’s an added bonus to have the best player in the world. For me it’s a privilege to play with him and to be close to him because of the way he is as a person and as a player.”

“What he does is admirable. He can do anything.”

On Ousmane Dembélé:

“He’s a young player with a lot of skill and many virtues. We are all excited for him to return because we need him.”

“It’s tough to arrive and then to get injured the way he did, but the most important thing is how he feels and his desire to come back.”

On the coaching staff:

“Valverde is confident that everybody can contribute to the team, and that’s very important.”

“We have a great relationship with the coaching staff. They understand the players and they transmit tranquility.“

On the 2018 World Cup:

“It will be great to take apart and help out, I am really excited.”

“The most basic thing is to have a good year and try to win the maximum number of titles possible because, after all, we are at the best club in the world.”
