Barça trains and names squad for Juventus clash

Ernesto Valverde has called upon 19 players to make Tuesday's trip to Turin, Italy, where Barça and Juve square off on Wednesday

FC Barcelona returned to the practice field on Monday morning, just two days after Saturday's win at Leganés in La Liga and two days before a crucial Champions League clash at Juventus.

The Matchday 5 encounter in Turin, Italy, which is set for 8.45pm CET on Wednesday,  gives Barça a chance to clinch the top spot in Group D and, with it, a coveted berth in the last 16 as a group winner.

Following Monday’s session, head coach Ernesto Valverde named the following squad of 19 players for Tuesday morning’s trip to Turin:

Marc-André Ter Stegen, Jasper Cillessen, Adrià Ortolá (31), Nélson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Denis Suárez, Andrés Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Leo Messi, Paulinho, Gerard Deulofeu, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, Lucas Digne, Aleix Vidal, Samuel Umtiti, Thomas Vermaelen.

Ousmane Dembélé, Rafinha, Arda Turan, Sergi Roberto, André Gomes and Javier Mascherano are injured and were left off the squad.

Barça’s next training session will be held at Juventus Stadium on Tuesday evening at 7.00pm CET. The first 15 minutes of the workout will be open to the media.

Before the training session, at 6.15pm CET, Valverde and Rakitic will appear at a news conference to field questions from the press.

Both press conferences and the first 15 minutes of the training session will be streamed live, in English, on fcbarcelona.com.
