Luis Suárez overtakes Paulino Alcántara to go sixth on the all-time goalscorers’ list

With 144 goals, the Uruguayan striker reaches the total of the legendary Barça striker and moves up a place on the select list

Luis Suárez continues to write his name large in the history of FC Barcelona. With his three goals against Girona in the league, the Uruguayan striker surpasses the total of 143 for the Club recorded by Paulino Alcántara in official competition. Now in sixth place in the all-time list, Luis Suárez only has Josep Escolà, Samitier, Kubala, César Rodríguez and, of course, Leo Messi ahead of him.

The Uruguayan has scored his fair share of memorable goals in that total of 144. His effort has come in just 182 official appearances for the blaugranes and his strikes have been invaluable in helping him to lift nine trophies since joining Barça in the summer of 2014. On an individual level his consistency in finding the net has also allowed him to win the Golden Shoe and be top scorer in La Liga in 2015/16.
