Hockey Forte 2-4 Barça Lassa: Top spot clinched in Tuscany

Catalans confirm their quarter final berth with a game in hand, and will face another Italian club, Follonica, in a battle for a place at the Final Four

Barça Lassa won 4-2 at Forte dei Marmi in a dominant showing on Saturday to confirm top spot in European League Group C with one game still to play.

In a curious circumstance, Paulo Rainha refereed the whole game alone because the other official was unable to travel, Barça took the lead after 11 minutes through Ignacio Alabart, only for the Italians to level up before the break.

But after Sergi Panadero had converted a penalty there only looked like being one winner. There was another penalty, this time missed, before Palo Álvarez extended the lead, and although the home side pulled one back, the same man finished off the job from a finely struck free in the final minute.

Montreux will be at the Palau Blaugrana on March 3, but the outcome of that game will have no effect on the table, and Edu Castro’s side can now start making plans for Follonica, their Italian rivals in the next phase.
