Best unbeaten start to a season in La Liga

With the draw against Espanyol, Barça have now gone 22 games without defeat in the league, a new Club record

A new record for FC Barcelona: thanks to the 1-1 draw in the RCDE Stadium the blaugranes have gone some 22 games without defeat in the league since the start of the season, a new club record. Ernesto Valverde’s team move past the record set by Pep Guardiola’s team in 2009/10 who started the season unbeaten in their first 21 matches before losing 2-1 to Atlético Madrid in week 22.

Ernesto Valverde’s team have recorded 18 wins and four draws in their 22 games unbeaten start to the season, giving them 58 points with 60 goals scored and just 11 conceded.

The best ever run at any point in the season

The overall club record for unbeaten matches in the league is held by Pep Guardiola’s team from the 2010/11 season who went 31 games unbeaten (from week 3 to 33) with 27 wins and four draws. The record in La Liga stands to Real Sociedad who went 32 games unbeaten in the competition in the 1979/80 season.
