Canon Medical Systems visits FC Barcelona medical services

A delegation from the Japanese firm was at Barça’s training center to see the Club’s Medical Services area up close

Representatives from Canon Medical Systems were at FC Barcelona’s training center last weekend to get an up close look at the Club’s Medical Services area. Joining the visit on Sunday was Club Director Pau Vilanova.

Leading the Canon delegation was Mark Holmshaw, the President of Canon Medical Systems Europe. Other Canon representatives included Nobuyuki Hatakeyama, the Vice President of Canon Medical Systems Europe; Kazufumi Ishiyama, the Director de Global Strategic Marketing for the Canon Medical Systems Corporation; Manel Rodríguez, the CEO of Canon Medical Systems Iberia, and Ferran Hernández, the Director of Marketing for Canon Medical Systems Iberia.

A tour of the Medical Services facilities was led by Dr. Ramon Canal, the director of Sports Sciences for FC Barcelona. The purpose of the visit was to formalize the Company’s name change. In 2017, Toshiba Medical Systems was acquired by Canon and, since January 4, 2018, the company has been called Canon Medical Systems.

Despite the name change, the team, the services, and the technology have remained the same. Canon Medical Systems continues to be an official medical system sponsor of FC Barcelona. The Club will continue to have the same access to the Canon Ultrasound and MRI Engineering departments, which provide the latest advancements in diagnostic imaging, along with support and consulting for FC Barcelona doctors.
