Valverde: 'I'm calm about Messi'

The Blaugrana coach commented on the team's return to work, and he acknowledges not knowing the exact physical condition of the Argentinian and Ter Stegen

Ernesto Valverde spoke about the current situation of the first team after the international break and noted: “We don’t know too much about the physical condition of Messi and Ter Stegen, but this Thursday they will undergo medical tests to assess their status."

The coach was calm when asked about the No.10, who didn’t play any of the two games with Argentina, and assured that "Messi finished the last match against Athletic Club well, and we hope that it’s nothing serious."

Barça enter the final stretch of the season, a part of the campaign which will be physically demanding, with titles in play. “We will play in all of the competitions this month and we will see how the players are when they return from international duty,” Valverde said. He also made reference to the game this Saturday against Sevilla saying "the three points against Sevilla can be quite decisive."

The coach made his statements in the framework of the presentation for the book 'Relats Solidaris,' an initiative whose objective is to raise economic resources for charitable causes. Valverde is acting as the sponsor of the project in its fourteenth edition, one in which the profits will go to the NGO 'Proactiva Open Arms.’
