Ter Stegen: 'We have an advantage but we still want to win'

The German keeper has been a defensive key for the blaugranes this season and he is determined not to be overconfident against Roma

He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he shows it game after game. Marc-André ter Stegen is having a sensational season and together with his team mates he is a creating a veritable wall for Barça’s opponents. His form means that Barça’s 4-1 advantage from the first leg is a good one. However, the blaugrana keeper is keen to avoid complacency as he admitted in the pre-game press conference in Rome on Monday. “We are concentrated on playing our game and we know that we have a good advantage but that does not change our objective which is to play well and win,” said the German.

“We have a lead that is tough for Roma but they have the quality to come back, above all at home, so we have to be concentrated,” added the goalkeeper.

One of the keys for the blaugranes will be keeping a clean sheet and Ter Stegen will have a leading role in that challenge. “We are working hard defensively and that is something we have to do until the end of the season. It’s something that helps us win tough matches because we have a lot of quality up front and the goals come sooner or later,” concluded the keeper.
