Eight games, eight wins! FC Barcelona returned from the three-week international break in style, beating Getafe 3-0 at Spotify Camp Nou to maintain their perfect start to the 2026/27 Liga campaign.

Goals from Anthony Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and Jules Koundé secured another convincing victory, equalling the club record of eight consecutive wins at the start of a league season, previously achieved under Tata Martino in 2013/14.

Gordon in a flash

The victory was all the more impressive given the absence of Raphinha, the team's leading scorer, who was unable to feature because of a minor thigh problem. But Barça showed that they have plenty of attacking options, with Gordon and Gabriel Jesus both finding the net in a dominant first-half display.

It took Barça barely two minutes to break the deadlock. Gordon, today’s MVP, beat two defenders on the edge of the area before firing home with the help of a deflection off Mario Martín. It was the Englishman's first goal in the Barça jersey.

Things wouldn’t get any better for Getafe, who struggled to escape their own half as Barça pressed relentlessly and created chances through Dani Olmo, Gavi and Eric García, with visiting goalkeeper David Soria producing several important saves.

The second goal arrived on the half-hour mark. Gabriel Jesus, making his first start for the team, pressed the Getafe defence, won possession and carried the ball into the area before finishing superbly with a shot across goal.

The Brazilian has had three shots on goal since joining Barça and every one of them has gone in!

Koundé celebrates a special milestone

Getafe had offered very little attacking threat in the first half, but emerged with somewhat greater ambition after the restart. Not for long. Barça soon regained control, enjoying almost 85% possession in the second half. Gabriel Jesus went close to scoring again from a cross by Gerard Martín, making his 100th appearance for the club, while Dani Olmo forced another fine save from Soria and Lamine Yamal threatened with his pace and trickery.

The third goal finally came in the 73rd minute, when Lamine Yamal delivered a superb cross for Jules Koundé to convert. The goal was particularly special for the French defender, who was making his 194th appearance for Barça, surpassing Éric Abidal to become the Frenchman with the most games for the club.

The goal put the result beyond doubt and gave the 59,465 spectators another reason to celebrate. Lamine Yamal could even have added a fourth late on and a late penalty appeal was rejected, but the score remained 3-0.

Special tribute to Pedro

It had already been an emotional evening before kick-off, when Pedro Rodríguez returned to Spotify Camp Nou to receive a warm tribute following his retirement from professional football. The former Barça forward, a key figure in one of the most successful periods in blaugrana history, took the ceremonial kick-off to warm applause from the culers.

There were also individual awards for Raphinha, named La Liga's Player of the Month for September, and João Cancelo, recognised for the month's best goal.

Europe next

There is little time to celebrate, however. Barça now turn their attention to the Champions League, with a trip to Turkey to face Galatasaray on Tuesday. After a three-week break, the competitive calendar is back in full swing, and Flick's side have returned exactly where they left off: winning.
