Barça Femení picked up another three points in the Liga F with a 2-0 win away at Logroño thanks to a record breaking goal from Mayssa and a strike from Patri Guijarro. More good news came with an appearance from Aitana Bonmatí in the second half, her first game of the season.
Rotations in the XI
Coach Pere Romeu put out a starting XI based on youth with a demanding week coming up in the Champions League and the league in the form of a game against AS Roma and the Clásico against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou. The team that started the game averaged just 22 years of age despite the presence of the experienced Marta Torrejón and Caroline Graham Hansen.
Mayssa Baha makes history
Barça dominated the early moments in the game but were unable to force an opener until a set piece led to a little bit of Barça history. Mayssa Baha glanced home a Caroline Graham Hansen corner in the 17th minute of the game to become the youngest ever scorer at 15 years, eight months and 10 days since the women's team became an official part of the club in 2002.
A goal ahead, the blaugranes continued to have the better of the game but were unable to add to their lead before the break. Logroño, for their part, had a penalty appeal turned down late in the half as the home side rallied.
In the second half Pere Romeu brought on Patri and Pajor to bring more experience on to the field. Nevertheless, it was Logronyo who seemed most likely to find the net with Barquero going close and Morcillo striking the crossbar.
Patri seals the win
Second half sub Patri Guijarro put the result beyond doubt with a great chip from the edge of the box over keeper Miralles to make it 2-0 on 71 minutes. Gemma Font in goal made a great save to keep Logronyo at bay late on and to allow Barça to take a morale boosting win ahead of the fixtures against AS Roma and Real Madrid next week.
