The new '4' culer

The player from Benicarló will wear the number 4 shirt, taking over from Ronald Araujo. Before him, the number had been worn by Ivan Rakitić (2014-2020), Cesc Fàbregas (2011-2014), Rafa Márquez (2003-2010), Patrik Andersson (2001-2003) and Sergi Barjuán (1995-1996).

At Barça since 2018

Brian Fariñas joined Barça in 2018 from Villarreal. He arrived as a first-year U14 player and completed his development in the club's 11-a-side youth system. From the outset, he developed into a versatile midfielder, and in his final year at U19 level he was a key figure in the team that won the league, cup and UEFA Youth League treble.

As a second-year U19 squad member, he made his Barça Atlètic debut during the 2023/24 season. His first appearance came on 16 March 2024, in a 4-2 victory away to Teruel. He went on to play two matches that season, and the following campaign, while still eligible for the U19s, he made seven appearances.

In 2025/26, with Juliano Belletti in charge of the reserve side, Fariñas established himself as a key player for Barça Atlètic. He played 35 matches, scored five goals and provided six assists. Combined with his impressive performances under Hansi Flick during pre-season, these displays have earned him a place in the first-team squad.
