Gabriel Jesus: 'I knew something nice would happen'
Gabriel Jesus is now a culer. And he couldn't be happier about it. The Brazilian striker is "living a dream" after two "very difficult" seasons. His move came together quickly, but he is more than ready for what lies ahead.
"These things happen in life" he said at his official presentation on Tuesday. "I don't really believe in coincidences. I'd been working and training hard, with the utmost respect, because I knew something good would happen to me. I'm really excited to be here."
Here to help a great team
Just hours earlier, he had enjoyed the Spotify Camp Nou "for the first time", watching the win over Rayo. From the directors' box, Gabriel Jesus could only think that "I wanted to be down there. All I could see were good things. We have a fantastic team and I want to help in any way I can."
The move is now a reality after it all began "a week ago, when I received a message saying it could happen. I was delighted and confident that we could get it done. When I realised it was going to become a reality, I got very emotional."
At Barça he will be reunited with his compatriot Raphinha, as well as former team-mates Cancelo, Rodri and Eric. "I spoke to them and they all had good things to say about the club, the squad and the staff."
Now it's time to dream. Of the Champions League, and of being happy playing football.
