At the age of 89 years old, Gonzalo Díaz Beitia passed away today, 1 August 2026. Beitia was a Barça player during the 1960/61 season.

Born in Sestao (Basque Country) on 17 November 1936, Gonzalo Díaz Beitia was a highly skilled left winger who displayed his talents for Athletic Club during the 1959/60 season, leading to him signing for Barça. He unfortunately had few opportunities to shine for the blaugranes given such tough competition from star players Villaverde and Czibor. After making six competitive appearances for FC Barcelona, Beitia left for Tenerife in 1961.
