Tosan Evbuomwan arrives to strengthen inside game for Barça

FC Barcelona and Tosan Evbuomwan have reached an agreement for the British player to join the Barça basketball team with a contract that links him to the Club for two seasons, until 30 June 2028. The 25 year old 2.03m power forward comes to Aleksander Sekulić's Barça side to bolster their inside game. 

It will be a first taste of European basketball for Evbuomwan after a professional career so far spent in the NBA (50 matches) and the G-league (99 games). The power forward is agile and excellent on the fast break as well as being able to do a job in the paint and shooting from the outside. 

College basketball 

Born in Newcastle, UK on 16 February 2001,  Evbuomwan played college basketball in the US for Princeton between 2019 and 2023, making 83 appearances over three seasons, scoring 4.1 points per game in his first season, 16 in his second and 15.2 in his last. 

In 2023 he made the jump to the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies and then the Detroit Pistons. In 17 games for both sides he averaged 2.5 points per game for Memphis and 7 for the Pistons. At the same time he featured for Motor City Criuse in the G-league, scoring 15.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in 32 matches. 

G-league success

In 2024/25  Evbuomwan averaged 9.5 points per game in 28 matches for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA before moving on to the New York Knicks. However, his best numbers came in the G-league where he averaged 19.4 points per game in 13 games for the Ontario Clippers, 19.4 points in 13 games for the Long Island Nets, 17.7 points in 21 games for the Westchester Knicks and 19.4 points in 9 games for the Maine Celtics. 

His final team before leaving the US, Evbuomwan averaged 17.4 points per game, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assist for the Greensboro Swarm in the G-league play offs as well as being named MVP of the finals. The power now comes to Barça to strengthen the squad in the '4' position.
