Barça Femeni 2026/27 to open the season at Estadi Johan Cruyff against Montpellier FC
Barça's women's football team have confirmed their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The blaugrana will kick off the new season in front of their home fans with a match against Montpellier FC on Wednesday 12 August, kicking off at 7.00pm CEST at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. It will be Pere Romeu's side's first warm-up fixture ahead of the official start of the season and another opportunity for the team to build match sharpness after the opening weeks of pre-season training.
Their opponents are one of the most established clubs in French women's football and a long-standing top-flight side. With a rich European pedigree, the Occitan club will provide a demanding first test of the pre-season
Previous meetings
Barça and Montpellier have met 11 times since 2012, mainly in pre-season friendlies. The overall record strongly favours the blaugrana, who have won nine matches, drawn one and lost one.
Their first meeting came at the 2012 Pyrénées International Women's Cup, where Barça recorded a 4-0 victory. Following a draw in 2015 and the only defeat in the fixture in 2018, Barça have gone on to win seven consecutive meetings against the French side, including matches played at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the Estadi Johan Cruyff and in the Women's Joan Gamper Trophy.
Montpellier are one of the historic clubs in French women's football, with two league titles and three Coupe de France Féminine triumphs to their name, and they will once again provide Barça Women with a stern early-season test.
