La Masia is brimming with talent. And the 2026 World Cup has once again proved it. Nine players who came through the FC Barcelona youth system will feature in the final. Spain contributes eight of them, while Argentina has one.

Leo Messi, Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Cubarsí, Olmo, Eric, Grimaldo, Cucurella and Víctor Muñoz are the La Masia graduates who will be involved in Sunday's final in New York. It is yet another demonstration that talent is nurtured to perfection at FC Barcelona.

The legacy continues

It is another iconic moment for Barça's youth academy. Barça fans still vividly remember the 2010 Ballon d'Or, when Messi, Iniesta and Xavi occupied all three places on the podium. Now, 16 years later, the World Cup once again shines the spotlight on La Masia.

That same year, 2010, was also a remarkable one for La Masia thanks to the World Cup. Spain's triumph was achieved with nine La Masia graduates: Víctor Valdés, Puyol, Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Pedro and Pepe Reina.

So, in 2026, the World Cup winners' medal will once again bear the stamp of La Masia. Whether it goes to Spain's Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Cubarsí, Olmo, Eric, Grimaldo, Cucurella and Víctor Muñoz, or to Argentina's Leo Messi, it will represent another success for Barça's youth academy. When the world watches the World Cup final, it will inevitably also be watching La Masia.
