FC Barcelona and 28-year-old, 1.85-metre guard Justin Robinson have reached an agreement on a contract until 30 June 2028. The American point guard arrives at Barça after an outstanding first EuroLeague season with Paris Basketball. In addition to playing in the French league, he has NBA experience and, following a brief spell in the Liga Endesa with Breogán in 2024, has also competed in Australia, Italy and France.

"It is an honour to have the opportunity to play for an incredible and prestigious club like Barça" he told the club's media after successfully completing his medical. "I'm very grateful and very happy."

Born in Manassas, Virginia, on 12 October 1997, Robinson arrives at the Palau Blaugrana to take charge of the team's playmaking, bringing vision, pace and quick decision-making. An explosive point guard, he is fearless both from long range and when breaking down defences and attacking the basket.

He describes himself as "a winner but above all a leader on and off the court. I want to keep being myself, be consistent, contribute on both offence and defence, and do whatever the team needs to win."

He also highlighted the stature of Barça: "Playing for a great club like this in only my second year in the EuroLeague is hugely exciting for me and my family. I want to embrace the culture and everything that comes with being part of FC Barcelona. Culers, I'm here!"

NCAA and NBA background

After coming through Montrose Christian School and Saint James School in Maryland, Robinson completed his college career in the NCAA between 2015 and 2019. He played four seasons and a total of 125 games for the Virginia Tech Hokies, averaging 11.5 points and 4.4 assists per game.

Between 2019 and 2022, he combined NBA Summer League and G League appearances with opportunities in the NBA itself, playing 68 games across five different franchises: the Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons.

Down under

In 2022, Robinson decided to continue his career overseas, joining the Illawarra Hawks in Australia's NBL. However, he suffered a serious injury at the start of his first season, preventing him from making his debut until the following campaign, 2023/24, when he appeared in 33 games, averaging 12 points and 4.4 assists.

Europe and the ACB

He finished that season by travelling to the other side of the world to join Breogán in March, making his first foray into European basketball. He played nine games and was instrumental in helping the Galician side retain their Liga Endesa status, averaging 9.3 points and 2.4 assists.

Following his spell in the Liga Endesa, Robinson moved to Italy to join Trapani Shark. There he confirmed his quality, averaging 14.4 points, three rebounds, six assists and an efficiency rating of 18 per game. He was named the league's MVP for November and finished the season in the competition's All-League First Team.

EuroLeague debut

His excellent performances in Italy earned him a move to a EuroLeague club. With Paris Basketball, Robinson made his debut in Europe's premier club competition, averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 assists and a performance index rating of 14.4 across 36 games. He also produced several outstanding displays, including 35 points and a performance index rating of 39 away to Olympiacos in November, and 25 points, six assists and a performance index rating of 35 to earn MVP honours for Round 37.

In the French league, where Paris Basketball finished as runners-up, he averaged 13 points, 4.1 assists and a performance index rating of 9.7 in 24 appearances.
