Andreas Christensen extends contract with FC Barcelona until 2028
FC Barcelona and Andreas Christensen have reached an agreement for the extension of the Danish defender's contract, keeping him at the Club until 30 June 2028. The centre back adds another two seasons to his deal and the Club and the player will make the agreement official in the near future at the Club offices.
Five seasons at Barça
At the age of 30, next season will be a fifth for Andreas Christensen as a blaugrana after signing from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. Since arriving at the Club the Dane has became a valuable member of the squad thanks to his tactical intelligence and his experience and his ability on the ball.
In his four seasons with the Club up to now he has made a total of 98 official appearances for Barça: 71 in the league, 15 in the Champions League, 2 in the Europa, 6 in the Copa del Rey and 4 in the Spanish Super Cup. In that time he has also won three La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.
The 2025/26 season was hit by injury as the Dane suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for almost six months. Christensen made his comeback at the end of the season, appearing in the final game of the league campaign away at Valencia at the end of May.
The extension to his contract means Barça will keep a player with valuable international experience, and now fully recovered Christensen will be able to lend his leadership and talent to the Barça defence for the coming seasons.
